Beech Class
Summer Term
Debbie Bagwell (speel) on: Beech Class
Wow, the summer term is racing by, we can’t believe that we are nearly at half term already! Despite it being a short half term, the pupils in Beech class have continued to amaze us with their hard work. We have started to look at our topic of ‘Water, Water Everywhere’ with a class focus on ‘Going with the Flow’. We have really enjoyed exploring water and how it moves and sounds and were particularly motivated to make our own rivers by pouring water down a drainpipe.
We have also been having lots of fun outside in the beautiful sunshine, making choices and showing our preferences and some pupils have been busy with Bikeability sessions. We are all so proud of how far they have come in a few short weeks, from not even wanting to put a helmet on, to tolerating one and pedalling around all on their own. Wow!
As well as our curricular work, pupils have been busy with their own individual targets and programmes, including mobility sessions and work with the Speech and Language therapist. Such super work!
This half term we have also been busy celebrating the anniversary of VE day. We had a special assembly, making bunting and poppies, and then enjoyed a celebration on the playground with wartime music and maypole dancing. This week we are finishing off the half term with our ‘World of Work’ week and some pupils are taking part in a trip to Tesco in Leyland to see the hard work everyone does there.
Next half term we have more exciting learning and activities to come, including the ‘Snail and the Whale’ sensory story and a special Spanish day. Keep your eyes peeled for next half term’s blog to see the pictures, we can’t wait!
